Swimming Workout -Are you Ready?

Every time you jump in the pool you have to go through your checklist. Here it is…it isn’t how much you train it is how SMART you train. Here is your checklist:
1. Check your bodies energy. Is your body ready to swim? Is it energized, springy, and full of life? Now don’t confuse this for being tired or sore. Not the same.
2. Take a look at your Posture. Always start with your Head and Pelvic segment. Are they in alignment? Then take a look at the other parts that need to be in line (thoracic segment, bending side-to-side, etc).
3. Are you connected? Pay attention to your connections. Are they all in-sync or are you missing one? Everything needs to be connected to obtain the most power and highest level of efficiency.
4. Do you feel the water? Are you aware of what the water feels like over your anchors? Then add other parts of your body. If you can’t feel it how are you going to be able to hold it?
5. Are you in a rhythm or is it ‘chunky’? Your stroke should be in a smooth rhythm and flowing. If you are not in a rhythm then the energy cannot cycle as it should for optimum efficiency.
6. Look back at your bodies energy…are you still springy, elastic, alive?
Always be talking to yourself and double checking if these things are happening. TRAIN SMART.
